| Lisa Staffie 2 yrs Dog Friendly Hove Brighton
ResRem 09/03/10 8:26
Her Story: Found stray in Wales managed to come through a pound where staffies usually lose their lives if not claimed.
Salient points: Lovely Staffie about 2 yrs old. Meets people and dogs very well. Housetraining and general house rules gradually being comprehended within foster. Slight deficit in back leg may be musculature or minor damage at some point. Could live with another dog.
Advert: Lisa nolonger a "Mona" but a "Lovely Lisa"! How well Lisa continues to do in rescue. A pure staffie with a gentle friendly aura with strangers and relaxed at home, well more a Miss Dyamite! apparently; she has really come out of herself and her energy is vibrant. She didn't seem to understand how to respect her house when she first arrived but now understands sofa are to sit on; tables are to walk under and back doors when looked towards can be opened to your relief! Lisa is fostered with a star staffie, who has befriended her and shown her how to get the best out of her foster family! Foster in Hove Brighton.
Lisa is leaving kennel cough behind, becoming fit and confident out on walks and even off lead in safer areas left free to play with her foster companion. At home whilst exciting, its warm and busy having 5 older children to exploit for treats and cuddles. Lisa is having to learn to take treat gently and earn them! And that home isn't a help yourself cafeteria. She has come along way in 2 weeks and has done so well that despite her foster family offering just to take her in for the Xmas period, they hope to be able to offer her a prolonged stay 'til her forever owners discover her many gifts. So Lisa had better behave..no biscuit snatching!
Please visit Lisa's individual thread, in Dogs needing homes in Foster on our Forum to find out more about her and follow their progress.

| Frank Bull dog x 3 yrs Gatwick kens
ResRem 09/03/10 8:25
His Story: Found stray, but microchipped. Owners had passed him on. Thank God they didn't want him back.
Salient points: Skin condition responding to treatment programme. Aloof but loving by nature . Needs companionship and support. Desperate past so needs aware, patient and committed family.
Advert: Frank is a designer dog ... sadly his life just hasn't lived up to that 'dream label'. Frank was found stray in a terrible state, he isn't out of the woods yet. Bull dogx and has excess folded coat of a beautiful beige with eyes to match. He is about 3 yrsold and has been neglected to the extreme inn past both physically and emotionally. Did live with another dog. He is now loved, cared for and being prepared for a very special life! Neutered, vax'd and on a treatment programme which is proving affective.
Frank is sad; Frank has every reason to be. Our kennels offer him love, toys and he is receiving the very best of attention to meet his needs. He loves his occassional walks. Frank needs an owner who is willing to be there for him and provide him with the love and individual care to bring him through into his new life. Frank walks well along side other dogs. Needs to be an only pet and to have company and to help him trust, come close and adjusted to a home life. Frank needs a special family and whow; what a special dog.

| Eddie Crossbreed 3 legs 25.01.08 Farnham Surrey
ResRem 09/03/10 8:24

His story Eddie was taken in by a man whose sister had bred him, sadly didn't cope with him once a lively 6-9 month old pup so was crated whilst at work for 10 hours a day. Living in a flat he had 30 mins run in the park. A car turned into the park entrance and ran Eddie over. Outcome Eddie was surrendered into our rescue with a flaccid front left leg. He was homed in with a large pack of dogs, parrots and chickens. All fine, but since had a full amputation. Another dog chaklenged his closeness post op and Eddie is being returned.
Salient points Eddie is well adapted to his disability. He manages all activities including stairs, getting in and out of a car++. Heel walking is difficult as he needs momentum to propel himself. Excellent recall and basic training. Excellent people, children and dog skills. Has lived with feathers! Excited by cats, but would settle as he did with parrots and chickens. Medium to large secure garden ideal.
Advert Eddie has always been special .. prior to his disability; during his transitory period and now post operatively. He has a closeness and intelligence about him coupled with such a loving tender nature. He had a difficult beginning though was fully socialised with dogs on his daily walks, with children and a baby. He had a road traffic accident meaning his owner couldn't manage the aftermath. Fostered with 5 terriers he blended really well with superb dog skills in the house and outside on his walks. Eddie was homed in with a pack of older dogs; one young 6 month puppy and 'other animals'. During the 4 months he had firmed up his skills further and now rarely 'chews other than his own items. The amount of aftercare and resultant closeness has set up tensions between him and the adolescent pup who is equally needing attention at his stage of growth. So now they are separated. Eddie is neutered, chipped and fully vax'd.
Eddie continues to do well. He is off lead in the park and has a fan club who he makes a point of meeting and fussing whenever he is out. He isn't restricted by his disability only in needing to pace himself so he can propel himself into a momentum to achieve skill and agility. He continues to mix well with all other dogs whatever age, size or breed. Eddie's mother was an English Bull terrier and his father was an English Bull Terrier cross. He is very handsome. Meet Eddie and you will see why he has a film star status in his neighbourhood. Incredible dog with mega charisma. Currently with his family in Worthing, E Sussex.

| Honey
Joanne 08/03/10 3:52
Hello everyone, my name is Honey and I am a 13 month old, medium sized, crossbreed. Nobody is quite sure what I am. My face and ears and quite like a beagle, my colour is like a ridgeback and my chest like a staffie.
Well here is my story; When I was a young puppy I was bought by a family and I thought I was going to have so much fun there. Things were great for a few days but then they got bored of me and annoyed when I did things that puppies do. They did not take me to the vets to have my jabs so I never went out to play and explore the world. Then I became poorly as I got a very painful skin condition called mange. They still did not take me to see a doggy doctor and so it got worse and worse. It got to the point where my whole body was covered in bleeding sores and I lost almost all of my hair. A nice neighbour of my then owners found out about me and got in touch with Guardian Angels Animal Support. Thankfully when I was 6 months old I was taken on by them and went strait to the vets to get the treatment I so desperately needed.
Here is a picture of me when I first came into rescue.....

You can see some more pictures of me if you click HERE
It took many months to get my condition to go away and for me to be well enough to be vaccinated and spayed. I now have the all clear from the vets and am now feeling on top of the world and and looking for a special home that will love and cherish me for the rest of my life.
I am happy to live as the only dog but could also live with a neutered boyfriend. I have never been around cats so am looking for a cat free environment. Sometimes I am afraid of men as they remind me of the past so any male members of the family might have to be patient and understanding.
I now know basic commands like sit, down and wait. I am housetrained and love going for long walks and indulging in plenty of cuddle time.
I am spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, up to date with my worm and flea treatments and fostered in Whitton, Middlesex
If you would like to offer me a home for life then please email my friends at Guardian Angels Animal Support for a homing questionnaire a.guardian09@yahoo.co.uk
Thank you for reading about me |

| Annie – young Welsh foxhound
care 07/03/10 13:14
Annie is a Welsh foxhound who was found as a stray and has the most adorable way of looking at you with big sad eyes. She has been used in a hunt and so has strong instincts to follow a scent wherever it takes her. She needs a large secure garden with solid fencing she cannot dig under or jump over, and another dog to keep her company. She does not like being shut in so somewhere she can have a lot of access to the garden would be ideal. Whoever adopts Annie will need to understand that they will need to keep her on a lead unless she is in a secure area. She is good with other dogs, and very laid back but has no concept of commands at all. She is very food orientated which we have used to work on her recall, and as long as she isn't distracted she will come back. Her interest in food will mean that she will steal if given the chance. She would make a lovely gentle companion for someone with patience that understands the ways of a hound, with the right environment. She travels well and is clean in the kennel. If you can offer Annie a loving forever home please contact us on 0845 4630623 or email us on rehoming@ceredigionanimalrescue.org.uk We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check

| Zebedee Staffie 1 yr Gatwick Kennelled
ResRem 06/03/10 19:10
His Story: Zebedee was found stray and bounced out of 2 homes. We have taken him on and he has responded to training and has become very special to us all.
Salient points: Young Staffie full of affection, but had few skills before he arrived. Now walks well with other dogs. Needs secure garden, older children or visiting younger children.
Advert: Zebedee is a young Staffie. Eager to please and not really sure why the world reacted like it did to his fullness of heart and "delighted to meet you" routine. Zebedee is now learning how to walk nicely on a harness or/and halti. He has learnt how to meet dogs nicely and is learning not to fall upon people like a rash! Zebedee is still young and so needs an active family who can reassure, involve him in constructive employment and carry on his socialisation programme. Zebedee is neutered, vax'd and chipped. Currently in kennels in Gatwick Area So Zebedee is on his way and Zebedee will be matched to his new family so won't be bouncing homes again! He is a fabulous lad who seeks direction and has become calmer and realised people understand him, love him and positively enthuse in him. He is brilliant, bright, positively bashful!

| Archie Shepherd x Collie 18 mths Horsham, fostered
ResRem 06/03/10 19:09
His Story: Archie was found stray in a nervous state late January 2009 unclaimed. He was about 8 months old. His confidence has grown 100 fold since then and he has matured into a truly beautiful dog.
Salient points: Archie now has confidence living within a pack of dogs with people coming and going. Ideally needs to be homed with a confident dog or dog confident family. Submissive by nature. Can react to dogs when out on lead outside as many Collie x Shepherds can do. Good with horses!
Advert: Archie is 80% German Shepherd. He has the Shepherd long body, tail and muzzle ... even fur type. His ears however suggest a complimentary influence perhaps Collie. He is young now around 18 months old. He is sensitive by nature! Archie is a very loving dog who bonds deeply given a chance. He loves being out and about, very interested in everything and a really good boy. " A trip in the van and he loved sticking his head out of the window with the wind blowing his ears all over the place. He is very chilled at home and takes no notice of the horses, loves water - the hosepipe is one of his favourite games ." Fostered near Horsham with a shepherd and horses
Archie mixes well with dogs and his submissive nature shines through, they are pleased to have him around. Adapts well to new situations now. Archie is neutered, vax'd and chipped. If you love Shepherds and if you have met the Shepherd x Collie mix before, you'll know just how much you'll love Archie. He will train well and is intelligent. Sadly the only thing he needs work on is excited barking when he sees other dogs approaching outside, this can take time to eradicate better off lead. He is just looking for his forever home with a fab family and he loves being out and about or pottering at home. Superb dog.

| Patch Greyhound ex-racer 4 yrs Gatwick
ResRem 06/03/10 19:08
His Story: Patch is an ex-racer with 33 races on his record with 5 firsts to declare. He gained his retirement in Oct through a cruelty case filed against his owner because of the poor conditions he and his friends were kept in.
Salient points: Small male greyhound. Has enjoyed foster and adapted very well to family life, developing good skills considering kennelled background will need to build further. Good with dogs and people but not for cats or small furries. Maybe sometime before he proves his trust off lead outside.
Advert: Now's your chance has come to own 'the Prince of Wales' known as Patch to his friends! Called Welsh Prince, this Prince from Wales did his racing at Reading. He is an elegant "grey" born 05 October 05. He has enjoyed a short foster when he was neutered and vax'd whilst awaiting a rescue place. He was a winner of 5 races and he'll be a winner again. He proved himself very adaptable living with a female grey; and showed himself to be calm, steady and friendly boy.
Patch is captivating to behold, a graceful in his movement. The day after he arrived the kennel owner called us to share her pure delight at seeing Patch running in the snow and having a 'ball'. His family will admire and guide him through into retirement which keeps a smile on his face and puts a sparkle in his eyes.

| Denzel Jack x 3 yrs Essex
ResRem 06/03/10 19:07
His Story Denzel has been owned from a pup. Attended puppy socialisation classes and happily lived in a 2 women’s household. Sadly taken against the boyfriend and owner about to move in with her partner.
Salient points 3 year old Jack Russell cross. Well socialised as pup, but has become 'precious' as an adult. Now scared of other dogs, strangers and openly dislikes soon to be 'live in' boyfriend.
Advert Denzel is a cheeky Jack who has character and is delightful within his comfort zone which has narrowed down as he has matured. Well socialised as a pup and used to mixing with a family bitch now selective and occasionally reactive to dogs. He has very good recall, but needs to be retained on a lead when other dogs are around as might not welcome interaction. Actually his horizons could be extended gently with confidence behind his lead which a terrier person will manage. Neutered, chipped and fully vax’d. Within his family home in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. Well trained.
Delightful Denzel is definitely the terrier who got the upper hand! He loves to dictate the agenda and uses his 'loads of character' to cement his endearment from his owner. Sadly he has no idea that he needs to find a new home and if we can do a direct homing he may not need to know he was ever in rescue. Needs a patient, kind and firm new owner who has a twinkle in their eye when he tries to use his twinkle in his eye to set the agenda.

| Bruno Shepherd x Collie 1 yr Kingston Surrey
ResRem 06/03/10 19:03
His story: Owned by a young lad who loved, but had no time for him. His father resented his presence and became his main 'carer' / abuser. Bruno was restricted to the lad's bedroom, irregularly fed and subject to shouting and physical abuse, then dumped in the local pound. Fostered since Aug 08 Bruno has come a long way in terms of healing, confidence and skill building.
Salient points: Requires dog experienced family to continue skill foundation. Needs another confident dog as role model. A secure garden/exit regime and low dog density exercise location. Could live with older children. The man in his life would have to be committed, aware and a true dog lover. Inclusive family i.e. sleeps in bedroom.
Advert: Bruno is a beautiful Shepherd x Collie in his late teens - born Jun 2007. Bruno had a shocking start suffering , inconsistent messages, neglect and abuse. Now behind him, he has learned to trust and built loving and stable relationships with his foster dad, mum and foster dog siblings. Bruno has been living with 3 large dogs and learned to trust the dynamics of a pack. Recently had 7 pups to be fansinated and enthralled by. Housetrained, 'treat' trained and respectful of boundaries. Bruno is a loving intimate dog who enjoys his cuddles, sits expectantly climbing onto the sofa when invited. Bruno now shares attention, treats and space well with other dogs. He is good in the car and walks well around streets on a short lead. Outside in open spaces he can demonstrate concern and herding with other dogs and so wears a muzzle to ensure social contact can be maintained. Just passed level one training and commence level two. Mixes well with dogs inside, and living with 3 adults and just loved having 7 pups in foster with him! Bruno requires at least one other low-maintenance, accomplished dog companion. Bruno also needs a dog sensitive male owner who can continue to develop the trust and further healing. He needs to be central and inclusive within his new family, i.e. in the bedroom and exits managed securely; garden fences in good repair and substantial. Loving reassurance will enable Bruno to come further into himself as an emergent adult dog. Bruno has so much to offer in return. In his foster home he is a model dog who is subservient to other pack members, loving and caring towards his family members. He shares his space well and is very forgiving if put in his place by another. Loyal he is, affectionate he is and so, so worthy.

| Ava English Bull Terrier 9 months Deaf Farnham Kens
ResRem 06/03/10 18:59
Her Story: 9 months old she came into our care having been moving from home to home like a hot cake. She arrived into our care without even a collar. She had been spayed.
Salient points: English Bull Terrier with maybe a touch of Staffie. She is mainly white in colour and sadly for her deaf. Still chewing, can be very high energy in the house when excited. Mixes with dogs well inside and outside. Needs management around food, rubbish bins etc. displays behaviours associate with a dog that has been hungry and without assured mealtimes. Can 'snap' air to communicate her concerns, but no mal-intention unless rare occassions when she can guard food.
Advert: Ava is a beautiful puppy who needed so much extra loving care and guidance in her youth and has had inconsistency, abandonment and neglect. She has shown herself to be able to settle into routine and begin to attune within the requirements of her situation, but needs a dog experienced person to help her develop methods to communicate her needs and build trust within her situation. She also enjoys an active regime where she can enjoy other dogs company and the outside life. She becomes connected, but can display over excitement and her energy can be described as "over the top" as if it is louder than it needs to be -coming from a dog who lives her life in silence.
Ava has already stolen our hearts. Her needs are keenly apparent. Can you offer her stability, firm loving kindness and train her in a repetoire of sign language. She needs to keep her socialisation skills, have a tight regime around meals to avoid hunger and the stress that feeling gives her. With this love she will gain confidence within new situations with her safety paramount and assured. Ava is spayed, chipped and newly vax'd. She is in good health, but currently feeling the cold in kennels so wrapped in her dog coat and needing refuge.

| Dior Crossbreed 18 months Gatwick W Sussex
ResRem 06/03/10 18:58
Her Story: Found stray in Kent as a young ?1-2 year old crossbreed
Salient points: Dior is houndy with a happy Staffie touch. She loves people and seems OK with dogs as far as our assessment has gone. Unassessed in a domestic situation.
Advert: Dior is a 'WHOW' a Super model as she stands and draws the attention to her remarkably beautiful body. Then she relaxes, smiles and comes over and becomes "just" the 'plain old cross breed' ... the girl next door! She has young energy which needs more attention, expression and tutoring. She needs to learn synergy within her family and relate to its routines and rhythm. She will; she is young, she just needs time and lots of "good girls" and treats indeed. Now spayed, chipped and beginning vax.
Dior needs a secure garden, occupation and care. She must have got into unloving hands to be found stray and unclaimed. She has so much love on offer ... and just needs a focus and she will win love through her goodness. She presents as having a fairly sound background; no 'issues' or baggage of great worth we feel. Ready like a young foal to learn the ropes and make 'the family pet' of a very worthy family.

| Ruby - Cream German Shepherd Lurcher Cross Female
Mayflower 06/03/10 11:57
Ruby is a very pretty lurcher cross German Shepherd female, approx 2 and a half years old. She is very loving and loyal.

Poor Ruby has experienced a terrible trauma sometime in her young life. It is suspected that she had boiling oil poured over her back. Thankfully the scarring is now covered by fur and the vet has confirmed that the skin has healed and Ruby will not require any ongoing treatment.
Despite her trauma you couldn’t wish to meet a more affectionate, happy and obedient dog as Ruby, who really wants to please and be with you.

Ruby bonds strongly with her carers so we are looking for a home where Ruby can be someone’s number one companion and who can give her lots of attention. Ruby would also do well with an owner sensible enough not to allow her to become too dependent on them.

Ruby loves retrieving a ball, including those that go into the sea and she will retrieve a ball until she is completely worn out!
Ruby also loves playing with other dogs and will try to get dogs to chase her for fun. She will play with dogs of any size.
From a distance Ruby panics when she sees another dog and she will bark and jump about when she is on a lead. Off the lead, she will run up to other dogs, sniff them and come back to you. We feel, therefore, that Ruby is better off in a rural area where she is less likely to be on a lead coming into contact with lots of other dogs.
Ruby lives happily with other dogs. She would be a great companion for another dog. Ruby could possibly live with a cat. Ruby is likely to be fine around sensible children from 10 upwards

| Rocky 18 month old lab cross
care 05/03/10 15:00
Rocky is a lively young lab cross who is boisterous but very affectionate. He walks reasonably well on a lead, but his recall needs work and he would benefit from socialisation with other dogs, although he is attending dog-training classes to overcome this. He travels well, is clean in his kennel and is good with children although he would be too boisterous for toddlers. He likes to play with toys but can be a bit destructive if left on his own. Rocky would be better with someone who could be home a lot as he loves human company, and would settle with a dominant dog who would put him in his place. If you can offer Rocky a loving forever home please contact us on 0845 4630623 or email us on rehoming@ceredigionanimalrescue.org.uk We are based in West Wales but re-home all over the UK and will always carry out a home check. |

Jimmy is a 3½-year-old Whippet who is a really friendly boy. He walks well on a lead, has very good recall, and knows some basic commands. | Maisie - Tibetan Terrier
LisaMayhew 04/03/10 11:07
Hello, my name is Maisie
I am an eight year old, female Tibetan Terrier. I am a very special dog who was found abandoned on the streets of London.
I have been severely neglected most of my life and lost a leg at a very early age. When I arrived at the Mayhew I had to have all my fur shaved off because it was so matted, the photo of me here is after my temporary shave to make me feel more comfortable. I’ve now had a professional clip so look much prettier. I am now in a foster home and my foster mum says that I am a placid and undemanding girl and so quiet that you could almost forget I was there. I spend a lot of my day snoozing on the sofa and like a lot of elderly ladies I can be quite forgetful but I always remember when it is mealtime because I love my food. I am very clean in the house and have already worked out how to use the cat flap to get out into the garden for a peaceful potter around. Although I only have three legs, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying my walks. I can comfortably manage an hour of gentle exercise a day although I need to take it in 30 minute stretches as I can get quite tired. I love being in the park and despite being quite deaf I can be trusted off-lead as I always stay close by. I don’t pay any attention to other dogs but have settled down nicely in my foster home with my doggy housemate Alfie and Lucy, the cat. I am really no trouble and I can manage to get up and downstairs by myself. I can be left alone for a couple of hours without any problems and travel well in the car curled up on the back seat.
I am now looking for a safe and secure forever home with special people who will simply enjoy having me around and will give me plenty of time to build a bond as I am an independent little soul and don’t like a lot of fuss. Although I am good with everybody and could live with children providing they did not pester me, I am not for a busy noisy household. My ideal owner would probably be an older person or retired couple. I could live with another dog if they were gentle with me and I would not mind sharing my new home with a cat. As I am on medication for a heart murmur, which costs between £20 to £30 a month, my new owners would have to be financially secure. So if you have a little room on your sofa and in your heart for a brave little girl, please come and see me soon.
I hope to see you soon

| Patch - Fox Terrier crossbreed
LisaMayhew 04/03/10 10:41
Hello, my name is Patch
I’m a two year old, male Fox Terrier crossbreed. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned on the streets of London.
I’m a sweet natured boy. I greet everyone with a waggy tail and I like to roll over to have my tummy stroked. I love nothing more than sitting with one of my carers while they shower with me affection. I’m good very good with children but I’ve not yet been tested with little ones, so for now I’d like to find a home where any children in the household are over six years of age. I get along well with most dogs but I can be dominant towards some, however now I’ve been neutered I’m starting to relax around dogs I’ve not met before. I would be happy to live with another dog providing our introductions went well.
I love to play and I enjoy my walks, my guardians will be expected to give me a minimum of one hour of off lead exercise daily in a park or open space. It’s not yet known how long I can be left on my own for, so at the moment I’m looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day. Someone who has owned dogs before and has researched my breed type. Due to my young age they will be expected to take me to training classes, which I know I’ll enjoy as I’m a smart boy and I’m eager to please. My new guardians will be taking on a twelve year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon
